The Changing Skyline of Sri Aman

 
If you had not visited Sri Aman town, the administrative centre of the Sri Aman Division, in the last ten years, you would not have recognised it now.

There is a general feeling of fast-paced economic activities but the most apparent is the addition of infrastructural facilities as discovered by RAKAN Sarawak on a recent visit.

The new Sri Aman Library located next to Sri Aman Council Building Stumbin Sembao Road Project - This 15 km road project, implemented at a cost of RM1.5 million, is expected to be completed by the year 2001. Meludam, a small fishing village has economic potentials that can still be tapped. YB Datuk Adenan Satem, Minister for Agriculture and Food Industry officiating at the ground-breaking ceremony of the proposed sports and recreation centre. Sri Aman Division is looking into the possibility of a big-scale cultivation of terubok fish. The sub-district of Lingga is where you can find "terubok fish pond" probably the only one in Malaysia. Here, they hatch the eggs and release the fry to the sea. Sri Aman Stage Amphitheatre - This RM170,000 project implement by Sri Aman's Public Work Department and financed by the Ministry Of Social Development was completed 6 months ago. It has a seating capacity of 300 and is equipped with a stage, running track and a field for other sporting activities
